Emily and Anne will be involved in some events over the next month or so to keep you on your toes, especially if you happen to live a bit north of London.

Anne will be involved in Sketch-O-Matic at the Cornerhouse in Manchester. Along with other Northern artists, Anne will be in a photo-like booth, and said she will have "five freaking minutes to draw whoever plunks themselves down in front of her" for the price of £1. The project will be running at the Cafe/Bar from Thursday 24th November until Sunday 4th November. More details here -

Thought Bubble - Leed's Sequential Arts Festival will take place between today and Sunday 20th November. Various events are taking place and Anne will be there on Saturday 19th November and Sunday 20th November with a full stall in the Royal Armories Hall on Clarence Dock, along with 99 other zinesters, selling stuff by Emily and Anne, Rosie Walder, Bronagh Fegan and a whole host of friendly faces (including myself if I manage to post some zines in time...). Emily and Anne will be selling their new 'Lost' zine, so that is definitely something to keep your eyes out for.Find out more information about Thought Bubble here.

Spreading the word - from Peter of the London Zine Symposium crew

EGAKU means "draw" and "imagine " in Japanese. we hope that we can support Japanese people EGAKU ( imagine) peaceful future by EGAKU (draw).

On the 2nd and 3rd of April, Peter and some friends are organising EGAKU - a zine/print/art/etc fair at Jaguarshoes in Shoreditch to raise money for the thousands of people effected by the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan. They are trying to get as much donated work as possible to sell at the event and raise as much money as possible.Creative people involved include NoBrow, Okido, Laura Carlin, Jean Jullien, Anorak Magazine and lots more flowing in. They are asking if any of you would donate any zines, prints, bags, books - anything.
And obviously 100% of the money they make from this event will be donated to Japan.

We all had a lovely day yesterday at 'Sister Sledge: A Christmas Fete' at the Sassoon Gallery organised by The Sisters Burn - Laura Vent, Sophie Vent and Jaimie Barker. Music by Rhosyn (www.myspace.com/listentorhosyn) and a choir, a little terrier called Ted, Roving Bazaar and a whole host of others as well as an abundance of delicious baked goods and mulled wine.

Annabel Innes's £1 only colouring book was launched at Household's Poundshop event as part of this year's London Design Festival and will be sold at Nest Gallery's table at the Alternative Press Fair. The colouring book is a lovely addition to any stocking and at £1 you better get to them fast before they are all gone.

Annabel is a Camberwell College of Art graduate, living and working in London.

Her work uses Graphic Design as a platform for a diverse range of processes to create carefully crafted, playful design. Encompassing curation, sculptural objects, collaboration and a healthy dose of fine art, her work is at once conceptually driven and aesthetically engaging. Fascinated by process and materials she utilises a range of skills to arrive at beautifully executed outcomes.

Bronagh Fegan will be hosting wordPLAY along with Rebecca '?' Fenton. wordPLAY is a 'grown up spoken word night with sass, a smattering of musical accompaniment and a massively eclectic ever-changing line-up that smacks more of a variety gig than a stuffy sit-down soiree.'

For one night only they will return to The Good Ship, Kilburn on the 23rd of November.

Showcasing the best of new writing, wordPLAY presents: 'Breathe In, Speak, Breathe Out' - a fundraiser for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

In memory of the gorgeous Jessica Cooper (1983-2009).

For many months now, Nest Gallery has been working with The Sisters Burn to put together 'They Is Us', a show dealing with a female response to the themes brought up by the science fiction genre. Eight artists deal with visions of the future and prophecies of the past.

The show opens on the 16th of September 6-9pm and continues until the 3rd of October. at The Sassoon Gallery, Peckham. All are welcome!

Rude Britannia: British Comic Art is at the Tate Britain from 9 June – 5 September 2010...

The exhibition will also feature a reading room of amusing fanzines, comics and homemade publications.
Rude Britannia: British Comic Art celebrates all that is comical, satirical, political, absurd and bawdy in British art from 1600s to today and the Tate Britain would like you to respond to these themes.
The best fanzines will be selected by curator Cedar Lewisohn and placed in the exhibition space for a period of time. Only zines infused with humour will be chosen.

The Tate will notify you if your publication has been selected, but they cannot commit to sending your publication back to you.

Yesterday saw the debut of Millie Easton's zine 'Heavier than Metal', a zine of epic proportions documenting some of the greatest metal acts through the power of the pen. Millie's drawings are humourous, detailed and carry the personality of someone slightly deranged yet fascinating.

Millie studied illustration at Camberwell College of Arts, graduating in 2008. Her work has graced the sleeves of a Johnny Flynn cd, the cover of the recent DrunkenWerewolf magazine (Issue 12) featuring the man himself again and the walls of the Hibbleton Gallery, Fullerton, CA.

LUCY PORTER

I am very pleased that Lucy Porter, illustrator and hair sculptress will be joining the Nest Gallery table at this year's London Zine Symposium with her zine 'Oh Hello'. Lucy's work delves into the darker side of existence and explores emotions and situations we tend to shy away from. Her work deals with these stories in an extremely sensitive and beautiful manner, creating sinister narratives with elegant and detailed pen or paint strokes.

Lucy graduated from Brighton University in 2007 and continues to create beautiful pieces of artwork and exhibit around Brighton, as well as winning the award for City College Hairdressing 2010.

NESTING IN WIEDEN + KENNEDY

NEST are currently residing comfortably in two stairwells at the great ad agency Wieden+Kennedy thanks to the lovely Laura Vent. We spent a few weeks making some giant A0 repeat pattern prints, and one weekend painting a mural in the new office building on Hanbury Street. NEST artists involved were Reena Makwana, Jennifer Pitchers, Anna Lincoln and myself, Chloe Bonfield.

I could describe the candy colours and the way they look like you could lick them right off the concrete but instead I will put some pictures up of the process and the final result. Soon to be highlighted on the w+k blog..

NEST GALLERY AT WIEDEN + KENNEDY

Chloe Bonfield, who curated the successful 'Golden Hands' exhibition at the Hibbleton Gallery, Fullerton CA last year has been organising a show for Nest Gallery at Wieden and Kennedy. Chloe has been working with Laura Vent to put together an exhibition entitled 'Decorators', which involves each of the artists involved with this project creating a wallpaper and working together to produce a series of murals.

The above photos show a practice run of putting together a mural at Bar Story, Peckham. The show will be installed next week at Wieden and Kennedy and details for the private view shortly released.

ALTERNATIVE PRESS FAIR

Yesterday saw our debut as a 'gallery' at the Alternative Press Fair. The event ran from 12pm to 6pm and ended in the eve with a spoken word night. All our exhibitors did extremely well and the ice-cream coloured goods on the table attracted a lot of attention.

We would like to thank Peter Lally, Jimi Gherkin and Gareth Brookes for allowing us to participate, Billy A.B who kept us company on our table and Paul Gardner of 'Gardner's' on 149 Commercial Street, Spitalfields where I purchased the market sundries for our stall.

ROSIE WALDER

Rosie Walder is a rare example of style and substance. Combining excellent taste with a talent for drawing, she has produced these beautiful Valentines Day cards for our table, a bargain at £1.50 each. You will probably find yourself unable to give them away and frame them for your own wall.

Rosie studied Fine Art at Central St Martins and has spent the last year honing her skills and developing as a prop maker, stylist and all round creative genius.

BRONAGH FEGAN

Bronagh Fegan hails from Northern Ireland and resides in London. She is a writer, film geek and general observer of strange behaviour and sick, distorted visions. Bronagh has been published in La Bouche, BRAND Magazine and is a regular at short story readings. Our table at the Alternative Press Fair will be the debut of her zine 'Wonderful Creatures and How to Kill Them', perfect for that moment when you're left alone with the weasel...and either you are going to die...or he is.

Priced at £1.50, it provides you with all you need to know. I would like to add (as it says on the back) 'The writer of this zine does not advocate violence towards animals. She just wants you to know that it can be done'.

Emily Howells and Anne Wilkins of 'Emily and Anne' have contributed a beautiful full-colour zine to our Alternative Press fair table. The two met at Kingston University and have developed a strong working relationship that has led to international acclaim with their animations, winning awards in the United Kingdom and Canada. Billy Payne, guitarist and singer in 'on-hiatus' Chihiro provides a CD of music that accompanies the zine and adds a bit of diversity to our female strong table.
