Reena Makwana - Christmas Cards


I'm going to be selling these Penguin Christmas card designs for £5 for a set of four as well as last year's five design collection, which will be £6 for a set of the five designs. I will also have a few to sell separately for £1.50.
They will be available to buy at the Sister Sledge Christmas Fair at the Sassoon Gallery on Saturday 10th December and a Christmas Fair at Scout's Hall, Bellenden Road on Saturday 17th December as part of the Nest Gallery table.

Aspidistra X Brief

The next issue of Aspidistra will be a sci-fi special. There’s going to be three chapters based on the following themes:
1. Monsters and Machines
2. The Moon
3. Alternate History/Uchronia
We are looking for words and art - fiction, poetry, essays, illustration, photography and other visual arts.
Images should be sent as a jpeg. Word limit is 3,000, poetry under 40 lines.

BAM - Blue Brick Tote Bags

BAM is a Textile Design label created by Amber James that aims to combine traditional craft with pattern design to create unique, high quality products.
We will be selling BAM's Blue Brick Bags for £5 at both the Sister Sledge Christmas Fete and Handmade Peckham's Christmas Fair. This design was previously sold at The Poundshop 4 which took place during this year's Design Week and was selected by Liberty London 'Liberty Picks' series as top buy.

Christmas Fair

We were very kindly invited by Handmade Peckham organiser Kate Parkin to participate in a Christmas Fair at the Scout Hut on Saturday 17 December 2011 from 11am-5pm. Have a look on the blog - www.handmadepeckham.blogspot.com for updates on stallholders and news on the fair.
The fair will feature the work of makers Dawn Dupree - printed textiles, Nikki Sims - Modern Maker - fabric accessories, Steve Wright - hand printed cards, notebooks, Laura Glassar - silver and pewter jewellery, Red- Handed jewellery - perspex jewellery, Rosie Brewer - jewellery, engraved glasses and baked goodies, Loraine Rutt - ceramics, Susan Osman - papier-maché decorative art and ourselves.

Emily and Anne News

Emily and Anne will be involved in some events over the next month or so to keep you on your toes, especially if you happen to live a bit north of London.
Anne will be involved in Sketch-O-Matic at the Cornerhouse in Manchester. Along with other Northern artists, Anne will be in a photo-like booth, and said she will have "five freaking minutes to draw whoever plunks themselves down in front of her" for the price of £1. The project will be running at the Cafe/Bar from Thursday 24th November until Sunday 4th November. More details here -

Thought Bubble - Leed's Sequential Arts Festival will take place between today and Sunday 20th November. Various events are taking place and Anne will be there on Saturday 19th November and Sunday 20th November with a full stall in the Royal Armories Hall on Clarence Dock, along with 99 other zinesters, selling stuff by Emily and Anne, Rosie Walder, Bronagh Fegan and a whole host of friendly faces (including myself if I manage to post some zines in time...). Emily and Anne will be selling their new 'Lost' zine, so that is definitely something to keep your eyes out for.Find out more information about Thought Bubble here.
The duo also have zines and merchandise on sale at the Old Fire Station in Oxford.

South East London Zine Fest 2011
Thanks to everyone who made it down on Saturday to the South East London Zine Fest at The Amersham Arms, New Cross. Our table featured Anna Lincoln (a new poster you can see in detail here) Heavier than Metal, Gin and Juice and Bill zines from Millie Easton, Aspidistra Magazine Issue 2 (along with a special box set edition) edited by Bella Dear, Hackney Posters and Save Draft zines from Reena Makwana and zines from Rebecca Strickson and Emily and Anne.
We're going to be having a stall at this year's Sister Sledge at The Sassoon Gallery on Saturday 10th December - the next Nest Gallery date for your diaries.

Foraging Suzanne
Chloe Bonfield has started an online mini comic that you can follow here. It is all about looking for food, finding it, and hopefully eating it. With perhaps some misadventures along the way. Look out for Foraging III, coming in the next two weeks. As well as Suzanne's forest friends out and about in London town at Christmas time... more details of that to follow!
